Use Case 1: Migrating Test Cases with Associated Bug References

The Challenge

In Zephyr Squad, many test cases were linked to native Jira issue – Bugs. Though these Bug entities were not in the scope of migration, it was critical for the client to retain information about these associations in the target ADO system to maintain historical context and traceability.

Kovair’s Solution

Kovair QuickSync was enhanced to:

• Fetch linked native Jira Bug details.
• Embed this information into the target Azure DevOps Test Case, within a custom field.

As a business impact post migration preserved historical context and traceability in Azure DevOps without introducing data clutter or requiring migration of out-of-scope entities.

Use Case 2: Traceability Through Source Test Case ID in Title

The Challenge

Post-migration, users needed a way to trace Azure DevOps Test Cases back to their original Jira Zephyr records for audit, validation, and reporting. Traditional field-level mappings wouldn’t surface this information prominently enough for users or auditors.

Kovair’s Solution

An enhancement was implemented wherein Kovair QuickSync automatically concatenated the original Jira Test Case ID to the title of each migrated Test Case in Azure DevOps. With usage of expression builder, this business use case was achieved and catered each record while migration through transformation facility.

For client this enabled visual traceability and audit-readiness through source ID tagging, simplifying post-migration validation for QA teams and stakeholders.
