Dear Customers and Prospective Customers:
On March 31, 2009 we announced SaaS or On-Demand offering (see attached Press Release below) for three products covering the entire domain of Applications Lifecycle Management (ALM). This creates an excellent opportunity for all potential customers that wish to acquire ALM tools to consider this option. The low cost SaaS entry for ALM tools and their capabilities can benefit your companies in enhancing productivity, quality and timely delivery of applications you are developing. This is a significant milestone for ALM. One might ask why? I summarize the reasons below.
Cost effective SaaS or On-Demand delivery of any application requires an architecture that is commonly known as Multi-tenant architecture. This allows a single application on a server to be used by multiple users from different companies on the same physical and operating system infrastructure thus lowering the cost of delivery per user. This allows a company like Kovair to offer it to multiple customers at a lower cost per user. To offer SaaS, Kovair has been investing in re-architecting its ALM Platform from the ground up for some time and has made several other improvements for user navigation and performance. Most other legacy ALM tools in the market today are not in a position to make such extensive changes to their basic architecture and offer customers this lower cost alternative- at least not in the near term time horizon. Kovair also has an inherent advantage of being able to offer several ALM functionalities in a single “Box” under a single data repository because of its unlimited configurable “Entities” or “Artifacts” architecture. It is therefore, in a unique position to offer a comprehensive ALM tool with the SaaS delivery model that most other major ALM solutions cannot – as most of them are point tools. The last but not the least advantage of Kovair is that it has been 100% web architected from the ground up and that is a very essential and fundamental requirement for a SaaS offering, again a shortcoming of most of our major competitors!
With these advantages offered by Kovair SaaS, we hope that more and more of you will consider adopting SaaS for your ALM Solutions.
Before closing, let me provide a recent quotation from Jim Duggan, Research Vice President and Senior Analyst at Gartner who specializes in the ALM software domain on SaaS ALM:
“An increasing number of clients are finding that hosted or SaaS delivery models for ALM fit their needs. Low up- front costs, fast implementation and consequently lower operational risks make it easier for clients to explore new processes and new suppliers.”
Looking forward to serving your ALM needs!

Kovair Software Now Offers Choice of SaaS for ALM
Milpitas, CA, March 31, 2009 – Kovair Software, a developer and supplier of Enterprise Class Application Life Cycle Management (ALM) and IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions announced today the immediate availability of their industry strength ALM solution delivered as SaaS(On Demand) in addition to their current On-Premise offerings.
“We are very excited to bring Kovair’s industry leading Multi-Repository ALM solutions to the market as an On-Demand or SaaS option in addition to the current On-Premise deployment. A brand new user interface of Kovair’s Release 6.0 with its new multi-tenant architecture provides the best user experience one can have on 100% browser based applications,” said Bipin Shah, CEO and Chairman of Kovair. “We have made SaaS pricing very attractive for the users, and hopefully many companies which could not invest in enterprise class ALM tools because of budgetary constraints in this market will have a much easier and a low risk decision to make to move ahead with ALM. This will make Kovair a very compelling full function ALM tool in the market with its process and integration capabilities.”
Initially Kovair is going to offer three Application Lifecycle Management solutions – Issues Management, Requirements Management Tool and total Application Lifecycle Management. The total ALM solution will include Requirements, Test, Issues, Risk, Release and Project Management applications all integrated seamlessly with each other. Each of these applications will be at least as comprehensive as any stand-alone application available in the market today.
“The On-demand offerings of Kovair ALM will be different from any other similar On-demand solutions in three respects,” said Sky Basu, CTO of Kovair. “First it will have a built-in Omnibus – Kovair’s industry leading integration bus technology, which will allow users to integrate Kovair to their existing On-Premise ALM tools from other vendors. Second, with Kovair’s very high configurability, users do not have to settle with a ‘one-size-fits-all’ SaaS solution, but can configure, if they wish, an exactly tailored solution to fit their specific needs. And finally, among all ALM solutions, On-Premise or On-Demand, Kovair has the most powerful graphical process technology-Omniprocess, which allows users to automate pre-configured processes or configure their own processes including “Agile” or “agile” for all the Kovair solutions.”
