San Ramon California, Dec 2019: Kovair Software, the developer of Kovair ALM, a fully integrated and scalable enterprise Application Lifecycle Management and Project Portfolio Management and several other software development tools announced that India’s Centre for Railway Information Systems – CRIS, a division of Indian Railways has selected Kovair ALM to efficiently manage their portfolio of projects and resources. CRIS went through an open tender process where Kovair participated with its reseller QualityKiosk Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Located in Mumbai, and competed with multiple vendors in this domain to win this order.
CRIS’s portfolio of projects covers the gamut of Indian Railways functions such as passenger ticketing, freight operations, train dispatching and control, crew management, e-procurement, management of Railways fixed and moving assets, and production of rolling stock. Every project at CRIS goes through multiple stages of approval before it gets sanctioned for execution. With the diversified nature of projects at CRIS, the PMO group faces a lot of challenges for delivering the projects in time with quality and within budget while trying to manage everything through documents. With the adoption of Kovair ALM, CRIS will now use a one-stop solution that provides a unified platform to manage budget, schedule, resources, and actuals through a single browser-based interface. Kovair has just completed its delivery of the solution for a major Cloud implementation by CRIS and this is an additional feather on Kovair’s cap that a large number of software developers at CRIS will adopt Cloud for their development work. This delivery is also in keeping with the desire of the current Indian Government to promote “Make in India” Policy as all of these products are developed and delivered from Kovair’s Kolkata, India premises stated Amit Dasgupta, Director of Major Accounts and Partnerships for Kovair.
“With this high-profile Indian Government customer win, Kovair Software’s fully integrated collaborative ALM & PPM solution takes a step further towards becoming a standard tool for Project & Portfolio Management as well as Capacity & Demand Management. We are pleased to be selected by CRIS, which adds to our recent wins that place us at the forefront of development in cutting-edge project & portfolio management,” stated Bipin Shah Chairman and CEO of Kovair Software.
The Ministry of Railways set up CRIS as a Society in July 1986. They are headquartered in New Delhi, with regional offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Secunderabad. CRIS is currently developing systems to cover the emerging needs of the Railways including the protection of Railway assets, energy management, management of the overhead electrification system, parcel management, employees’ health management, and a comprehensive financial management system. Other projects under execution include the development of ticketing on mobile phones, linking tickets to Aadhaar, tracking of trains in real-time through GPS, tracking of rolling stock using radio frequency identification, setting up a geo-spatial database for the Railways, and setting up a state-of-the-art datacentre to house the Railways’ IT system.
